Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has addressed fans following a concussion sustained during Sunday’s matchup against the Houston Texans. Taking to social media platform X, Lawrence provided a health update and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out and been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better,” Lawrence wrote. “Means a lot, thank you all.”

The Incident

The injury occurred in the second quarter when Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair delivered a hit to Lawrence’s head as the quarterback slid during a first-down run. The controversial play sparked an on-field altercation, leading to the ejection of Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones and Al-Shaair.

“That was a bad play,” said Jaguars assistant coach Josh Hines-Allen. “The game has changed with the rules we now have. A few years ago, that might have been seen as a great hit. Today, it was neither smart nor legal.”

Jaguars Players React

Tight end Evan Engram didn’t hold back when addressing the hit, labeling it a “dirty play” during post-game interviews. “Trevor was sliding, and I saw the hit from the corner of my eye. It was instinctual to react—it just didn’t feel clean,” Engram explained. “You stick up for your quarterback, especially on a play like that.”

Lawrence’s Season So Far

This game marked Lawrence’s first start since Week 10, following a sprained AC joint suffered in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He missed two subsequent starts before the team’s Week 12 bye. Prior to the injury, Lawrence completed 4 of 10 passes for 41 yards and one interception.

The Jaguars, now awaiting further updates on their star quarterback’s condition, will need to rally as they prepare for upcoming games.
